FAQs
Q:
How long should my
manuscript be?
IJSE:
We are not really
looking for a specific length; we have had manuscripts from
12 pages to more then 25 pages, with the average being
around 20 pages (without graphs, notes, etc).
What we are
looking for is the
quality of the article; it should contain critical new
information on a significant topic, persuasively advance an
important new interpretation, or revise a major older
interpretation in a useful manner. The manuscript should be
written in a clear and accessible style for a broad
professional audience. Though the article need not be
perfect, it should be truly outstanding before it is
recommended for publication. We stress the
need to adhere to the Chicago Style
Sheet, an
article that does not follow the style sheet will not be
accepted for consideration.
Q:
How long is the
submission to publication process?
IJSE:
Once we have
received both hardcopies and the electronic copy of your
manuscript we send a copy to a member of our editorial
board. They have six (6) weeks to read and submit their
recommendations. The entire process takes about nine (9)
weeks.
Q:
What is IJSE’s
acceptance rate?
IJSE:
We accept
approximately 28% of manuscripts. However, if a volume is
thematic all manuscripts will be accepted.
Q:
How often do you
publish theme issues?
IJSE:
Ideally we publish
one theme issue per a year. You CAN submit themes for
consideration.
Q:
Will you look at my
manuscript before I officially submit to see if it is
acceptable?
IJSE:
In order to be able
to know if the article is compatible to the
Journal
we need to be able
to read the entire
manuscript. So,
please submit your material according to our
manuscript sumissions
page.
